Exercise: Check services and recent records

Read service health, server details, logs, and audit records without changing the local installation.

What you will learn

You will follow one read only path through System operations, logs, and audit records.

Local practice only. Use a test tenant with made up information. Do not use customer information or a production installation.

Before you start

Use a local test installation. You need access to System operations, platform audit, and the log view you plan to open.

Practice the health check

  1. Open System operations.
  2. Check the service summary.
  3. Open the Servers view.
  4. Choose one server.
  5. Record its service group, last report time, and current state.
  6. Do not stop, restart, or change the server.

Practice the record check

  1. Open platform audit in another browser tab.
  2. Use a short recent time range.
  3. Open one record that contains only test activity.
  4. Note its time, action, result, and request ID when present.
  5. Open operational logs.
  6. Search for the same request ID when one is available.

Check your result

You should be able to describe the current service state and connect one safe audit record with its related log information. Record unavailable information as unavailable.

Clean up

This exercise is read only. Close the tabs and remove any notes that your organisation does not need.
