Quick guide: Verify a backup and restore

When to use this guide

Use it for an approved restore test away from production.

Checklist

1. Record the product version and recovery point.
2. Confirm that the Control, Workflow, and AI databases belong to the same checkpoint.
3. Confirm that matching documents, indexes, models, runtime files, and required logs are present.
4. Create a separate recovery system.
5. Restore the databases and matching files.
6. Start the recovered services without production traffic.
7. Confirm that every required service is Live and Ready.
8. Sign in with an approved test account.
9. Check one allowed and one restricted access result.
10. Open safe workflow, case, and knowledge test items.
11. Compare one restored knowledge passage with its source.
12. Record pass or fail for every check.

Stop and get help when

• Database or file checkpoints do not match.
• A required service is not Ready.
• Expected data is missing or belongs to another checkpoint.
• The recovery system could send traffic to production.

Record

Record the checkpoint, product and database versions, file stores, start and finish times, results, missing data, and recovery owner.
